At the request of customers, Nova Q has developed a range of training programmes around biological wastewater treatment specifically for RAS Aquaculture systems with a particular emphasis on nitrification, denitrification and biomedia.

The training can either follow a standard format or can be tailored to the needs of the client.

Typical modules include:

Fundamentals in wastewater treatment
Introduction to bacteria
Wastewater treatment system
Plant monitoring and control
Nitrification and denitrification
System troubleshooting

Length of the training course will depend on the client, but typically, these modules can be tailored from a couple of hours to a full day course. It is also possible to run the course multiple times in a day to account for shift work.

We like to put an emphasis on understanding the basics of wastewater treatment to arm clients with the tools to manage issues as they arise, as well as to understand the trends that can be the start of a problem arising.

It is not necessary to be using RAS-Right products to benefit from the training, but as you’d expect, we go into extensive detail on nitrification and the conditions and reactions involved in the nitrogen cycle. So a proper understanding from how much ammonia will be generated, to the timing of nitrite removal and denitrification, all in both freshwater and saltwater conditions.
