The worldwide need for new and affordable housing and the desire to limit urban sprawl is increasing the need for brownfield remediation. Many of the sites in prime locations have previously been used for industrial activities, chemical manufacturing, coal and coking, town gas manufacture etc and are therefore often contaminated by toxic and persistent chemicals.
A number of remediation technologies are available but bioremediation can often be the most economic. The AquaClean™ range of bacteria has been shown to be effective in removing a variety of chemical contaminants.
These include Hydrocarbons such as from fuel spills, heat transfer fluids from industrial equipment leaks, pesticides such as Lindane and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH’s) from coalgas manufacturing and creosoting.
The technology can be tailored to target the specific contamination and can be applied in-situ or ex-situ.
