Joe Leonard- Ad Activator Customer
Joe Leonard operates a large dairy farm in Co. Meath. Joe has been working with us for the last few years and has been a key part in the development of the AD Activator product in Ireland. His regular feedback on our brew types, timings and management strategies have helped successfully conclude with a program that will suit most, if not all slurry stores in Ireland. We visited Joe on his farm to find out what he sees as the key benefits of regularly applying AD Activator. According to Joe the best features were:
- Reduced agitation time
- Reduced odours around the tank and at applications times
- Improved handling through an umbilical system
Using functional bacteria in Joe’s slurry tanks is not the only way Joe is trying to improve his farm’s connection with the local environment. Joe has worked with multi-species swards for the last few years on his grazing platform which have improved the diversity in his animal’s diet, supported more diverse root systems and most importantly provided a full sward quality throughout the year, even in drought periods. He has recognised that the functional biology being added to his slurry have improved the quality and quantity of grazing even with lower artificial inputs such as N fertiliser.
